I’ve always worked full time and had at least 2 dogs. Without a doggie door this was a problem when I got home late or had a sick dog and they had to stay in too long. It was really bad when I was away for the weekend and had friends come let the dogs out to go potty. I never knew how long the dogs had to stay inside. There were always accidents because someone needed to go potty.
Getting a doggie door was the best gift I ever gave to my dogs. It didn’t replace me letting them outside – it did give them the freedom to go potty when they needed to instead of holding it until I got home. And now I don’t have scratches on my doors from the dogs begging to be let out.

Step 1: Measure your pet from the top of the shoulders to the chest, just behind the front legs.

How To Measure A Dog For Dog Clothing

Accurate measurements are the keys to a great fit. Most online dog clothing stores will do all that they can to assure that the items that you purchase for your dog(s) are appropriately sized, so that they are comfortable for your dog(s) to wear and look terrific!
How To Measure A Dog
IMPORTANT: Do NOT add your own fingers into your measurements. If ordering online and you provide the ACTUAL measurements of your dog, the online store should make adjustments for comfort and fit, based on what they know about the way an item is sized by the manufacturer.
If possible, take measurements using a soft measuring tape. If you don’t have one handy, you can use a piece of ribbon or string, and then measure that length against a standard ruler. Have your dog in a relaxed, standing position with his/her head up (rather than looking at the ground). Once you have your measurement, measure again. It is important that you measure at least twice, to be sure that you are getting the same measurement each time.
NECK (A) Measure all the way around the widest part of your dog’s neck (where the collar is most likely to rest).
GIRTH (B) Measure all the way around the widest part of your dog’s body. This is generally right behind his/her front legs. Be sure to keep the measuring tape in line around your dog’s body as you measure.
TOPLINE (C ) Measure from the base of your dog’s neck (where the collar rests) to the base of his/her tail. Make sure that you do NOT include the length of the tail into the measurement.
HEAD (D) Measure all the way around your dog’s head at the point in-between the eyes and the ears.
WEIGHT Your best estimate is fine. Some manufacturers size by weight, so it will help the online store to have this information. Knowing your dog’s weight will also be necessary for correct SHOE SIZING. Yes, dogs of all sizes wear shoes and boots!
